We stopped at the LA Zoo on our way down to Southern CA a couple weeks ago. As we were getting out of the car, I asked Patrick which animal he was most looking forward to seeing and he said he wanted to see a dragon. I told him I didn't think there'd be any dragons at the zoo, but lo and behold, the first thing we saw when we went in was a "dragon" fly. 
And they also had a Komodo Dragon:
So he did get to see dragons after all.
