9 Days, 8 Nights, and 2700 Miles Later

Amber,

I think the town is called Arcata. Here's an article that talks about them: http://www.magazineusa.com/us/states/show.aspx?state=ca&doc=67&dsc=California_Covered_Bridges

Kristen- No camping this trip. It was our first hotel roadtrip (We have camped or stayed with relatives in the past.) We stayed 6 of the 8 nights at Motel 6s, one night at a Super 8 and one night at a locally owned place. Some of them were very nice (even with a waterfront view), others were not so nice. One of the places there was actually dog poo in the corner. YUCK!

It was a huge help having my mom along as nanny. It was nice to outnumber the kids and have a sitter to stay in the car if the kids were napping when it was hiking time, or so we could go out on a date night.
