Weekend Getaway

Chuck and I got away this weekend while my parents watched the kids. (Thanks Mom and Dad.) It had been almost 4 years since we last camped by ourselves. We debated on whether or not to go when we saw the unseasonably cold weather forecast, but decided to take the chance on it being cold and rainy the whole time. It was definitely cold, especially when we went for rides on the motorcycle. And, it rained all of Sat. with a high of 39 degrees. We ended up sleeping in the truck so we'd stay warmer which was a good thing because our 10 year old tent is no longer water proof and we would have been wet and cold if we had slept in it.

Despite the weather, we had a blast. Just the car ride was nice not being needed by kids in the back seat. We did some riding, hiking, talking, eating, and lots of sleeping in. :) We'll definitely be going back to camp at Quaking Aspen again; it was beautiful, quiet, and had lots of things to do.

Cooking in 35 degree weather. Brrrr. We ended up going to the lodge for dinner the next night and lunch the last day to avoid having to stand out in the cold to cook meals.
