Patrick has been having nightmares lately. A few times now Patrick has asked if we can "make his dreams not come" when we are tucking him in for the night. He says he sometimes has scary dreams. We pray with him and remind him that if he's afraid at night that he can ask God to help him not to be fearful and he can come and get us or call us if he needs. Tonight I told him that he should think of some fun things to dream about and if he has any bad dreams to just wake up and start a new dream about something that's not scary.
So a couple hours after bedtime he comes walking out into the livingroom with a big smile on his face and says, "Mommy, I had a dream. Guess what it was about. It was Lightning McQueen and Mater. And, Kimberly's pinwheel turned into a fish and ate Mater. Mater was sad because Lightning McQueen left, but lightning McQueen saw the fish coming and didn't want to get eaten. That's silly, huh? It was a little bit scary, but I liked it."
I tuck him back in and as I'm shutting his door, he says, "Mom, I love telling you my dreams."
