Monterey

This weekend Chuck and Patrick had planned to go camping in Yosemite Valley, but with rain in the forecast, plans changed and we headed to Monterey instead.

We stayed at the Navy Lodge at the Navy Post Graduate School. The room was huge! It had a large living room, a kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom with a huge walk in closet that made a great kid bedroom. The building was old with cool architecture and wavy old glass windows.

We bought year passes to the aquarium, so we went 3 different times while were there. We also took advantage of a great coupon deal for Gilroy Gardens and spent a day there. I think I might actually like GG better than Disneyland for the ages our kids are at right now. I loved the focus on gardening and agriculture rather than characters.

On our way back home we stopped and played at The Dennis the Menace Park. Chuck stayed in the car with Ryan while he napped, and it was a little crazy trying to keep up with two kids at a huge park with lots of people. The kids loved climbing on the train engine and my favorite was the roller slide.

We had so much fun that we're already planning our next Monterey trips.

So fun! I've always wanted to stop there but we're always on our way to somewhere else and didn't have time. :)
