When Did That Happen?

Kimberly learned to sit up! When did that happen? I'm not talking about the wobbly have to have a pillow for support kind either. This girl is sitting up unasisted for 1-2 minutes before toppling. I sat her up on her changing table tonight so she could talk to herself in the mirror and she sat up on her own. I had no idea she knew how to sit up. Now I'm wondering how long she's been able to and just hasn't had the chance. Because, yes, I am busy taking care of Patrick too and she doesn't get nearly as much one on one time as her brother had at that age.

She's already pulling her legs up under herself when she's on her tummy too. Yesterday she even got up on her feet while on her tummy. Like a "V"; it looked pretty funny. I think she'll crawl sooner than Patrick did. He was 11 months before he got his legs under himself.

Let the fun begin. I remember how much more Patrick loved toys once he could sit up. I can't wait for her to play with all of her girly stuff, like her plastic tea set and dolls, though I'm sure for awhile it will just be to chew on them. :)

Speaking of chewing, she's loving eating. So far she has had Gerber Puffs, peas, banana, and apple sauce. She gets pretty mad when the bowl is empty, so she usually finishes off her meal with a few Puffs ease into the ending of the meal. After most bites, she puts her two fingers in her mouth. So cute. I need to get to work on making her some homemade baby food to freeze. I'm thinking sweet potatoes will be next on her menu. (Did you make your own baby food? What was your favorite one to make? Any tips?)

Oh, and Kimberly will be 6 months old tomorrow. I'm hoping to do a little photo shoot with her and have some pics to share soon.

She is so beautiful! I can't believe she is 6 months old already. It really makes me realize how long we have been away. Congrats to Kimberly on sitting up. Love to you all!

I made Jackson's baby food! Sweet potatoes were his favorite.

Hmmm ... tips? I found that peas and applesauce weren't worth the hassle and ended up getting baby food peas from the store b/c the shells are hard to mush in the food processor and a big jar of natural (unsweetened) applesauce is cheaper than doing all the work myself (about $2.00 for a BIG jar).

Jackson also really liked his food thick (I did too b/c it made less mess) so I added baby cereal to a lot of his homemade stuff to thicken it up and plus it has the added benefit of adding more iron to their diet (I guess iron deficiency has become a problem with babies and toddlers recently).

Oh yeah ... and when Jackson got to the age where his stomach could handle just about anything we were eating we took our dinners and used the "Happy Baby" baby food grinder ... it's about $13.00 new and small enough to take with you to family's homes, restaurants, etc.

That's all of the tips I can think of for now ... I'm sure I'll be asking for tips from you in a couple of months. :)

love the redneck games--that is too funny. kimberly really is so adorable. yay that she can sit up--i love when they can sit up and not go anywhere. it always seems too short of a time, though.

so cute! good job, kimberly!

yams were my fav to make. but sometimes they would be really stringy. so you have to get the strings out as you mash them.

Good morning Katy...it's lovely waking again at all hours of the night:) I need your address, and would also love you e-mail and phone number! I'm a total dork, and I tried to use the sling, but forgot how...also, I'm not sure how snug or loose it is supposed to be?? Tight or baggy? Not sure...I also couldn't remember if you said you didn't like the diaper champ or you did?? The reviews were totally mixed and 50/50...so that didn't help.. but I wanted to go get a diaper pail before we start using the cloth diapers in a about 2 weeks! I also bought a bunch of baby wash cloth sets for the wipes..good idea?? I was wondering, we have a wipe warmer...I've read different experts opinions and wanted a real mom with experience to share.. do you add anything to the wipes or spray their hinnies with anything or just straight water..and do you wet them right before a change or keep them in a warmer/bag/or something premoistened ready to use?? wheew, Sams about done, so I'm going back to bed...todays my first day a lone and we're starting school again..one week isn't what it used to be:) Thanks Katy!
