Last week we headed to Mammoth with our friends and my parents. We had a great time sledding, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and crosscountry skiing. Oh, and eating, a lot. My mom planned and prepared all the food for the trip and it was delicious.
There was a great spot behind our condo with sled runs.
Gramma Kitty and Papa Bob took the gondola to the top of the mountain.
Cross Country Skiing near the Mammoth Visitor Center
Patrick loved cross country skiing. I think he might be ready to try downhill next year.
Moms' day out on the slopes!
One evening Chuck and I cross country skied to Rock Creek Lodge for dinner. It is a 2 mile trek to the lodge uphill from the road with an elevation gain of about 300 ft. It was the first time we've ever used the classic tracks for cross country skiing. The dinner was fabulous and it was fun to visit with the other couples at our table who were actually staying at the lodge. We were the only ones that skied back to our car in the dark, the rest took snowmobiles out. Going downhill proved to be harder for me than the uphill since I spent the whole time trying to keep from gaining too much speed. I only thought I might eat it once, but I was able to slow myself down eventually. My arms are sure sore still.
